Effects of multi-layer graphene on the fracture toughness and wear resistance of WC-11Co cemented carbide

The effects of multi-layer graphene (MLG) on the properties tungsten carbide-11 cobalt (WC-11Co) cemented carbides were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning (SEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and other methods. results show that when MLG content is 0.1 wt%, density, hardness fracture toughness are 3%, 14.5% 71.8% higher, respectively, compared with sample without MLG. Bridging deflection cracks improve WC-11Co. In addition, inhibits transformation Co phase into Co3C during sintering process makes maintain FCC structure at room temperature, thus enhancing matrix. prevent matrix from generating W3Co3C Co3C, improving wear resistance. Furthermore, improves thermal conductivity carbide greatly reduces degree oxidative friction tests. volume wt% 98% smaller than MLG, but its mean coefficient 8.8% higher stable stage. It because solid lubricating effect debris greater after 900s.
